I am registered as partially sighted and I am a member of the SLC (Sight Loss Council).
Until I lost my sight, I (like many others) did not appreciate just how difficult it can be for people
with limited vision to negotiate even the most obvious public places and spaces such as shops,
hotels, entertainment venues and even outside locations. I have experienced these issues myself
and suffered numerous trips and slips over the past few years. Similarly these issues also affect
things like websites and printed materials (for example do you make sure you always have large
print versions of all your documents?)
Usually (depending on the venue), these problems can be solved simply and relatively inexpensively
and by doing so businesses will make themselves sight-loss friendly and expand their appeal to
partially sighted customers.
The cost??
Not as much as you would think!
£50 (plus travelling expenses over a 20 mile radius from my home), for an initial visit with
a verbal report on any issues you may have
or
If you require a more in depth, written assesment together with advice on how you can
minimise problems for partially sighted people, the total cost will be £200.
If you would like me to visit you and make an assessment of your property - identifying potential
issues which could affect people with partial sight then please contact me on 07743 85872 or on
